Join Globe journalists, regional leaders, and advocates for an afternoon of insightful discussions and community building

BOSTON, MA – April 2, 2025 – The Boston Globe is hosting a Sustainability Summit on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET at the Boston University Duan Family Center for Computing & Data. This dynamic, in-person event is designed to connect business leaders, innovators, and changemakers to discuss and discover solutions to today’s most pressing sustainability challenges.
Participants will enjoy the opportunity to network with industry peers, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and learn from expert panels on topics ranging from revolutionizing homes and eliminating plastics to empowering future environmental leaders.
The Sustainability Summit includes:
- A conversation with Gina McCarthy, the first White House National Climate Advisor, former U.S. EPA Administrator, and current Managing Co-Chair of America Is All In, a coalition of leaders who support climate action.
- A session titled Beyond Plastic featuring bold innovators who are designing fully recyclable products with alternative materials to reduce environmental impact.
- Insights from Young, Green Gamechangers who are launching climate-tech startups and spearheading initiatives to lead the charge on climate innovation.
- Tips on How to Make Your Home More Sustainable from experts who will share strategies to transform living spaces into eco-friendly havens.
Jason Margolis, climate science and transportation editor for the Globe, shared his motivation for participating in the Sustainability Summit: “So often, I’m amazed at the excess packaging and plastic we use to make modern life work. Then I visit a business that is working sustainably. My journalist instinct kicks in, and I want to know: Is change really that easy? This Summit is a chance to explore how companies make the decisions they do, the pros and cons and how it impacts their bottom line.”
Fellow Globe journalist and climate reporter Sabrina Shankman added, “Our reporting has shown that two things are true right now — climate and sustainability work at the federal, state, and local level is at risk, and scientists, policymakers and advocates are working hard to keep momentum going. The Summit will be a chance to talk to the people on the front lines of this work and hear about how progress is continuing.”
Join The Boston Globe and leading experts in the region as they come together to build a sustainable future.
